Good versus Evil
If you haven't watched all of Season 19 of Heartland, please do not read further
This night owl has tapped into the wellness side of life, so I haven’t been writing as much as I really want to. If only we could add 8 hours more to the day, then I would be in love. That glow I had as a teenager when I went to dance practice at least 3 days a week is back. Now I just have to figure out how to fit it in around writing, my hobbies, taking care of children, working full-time, and all those other things I attend to. Whew! I’m exhausted just thinking about it.
I haven’t really been watching a lot of Yellowstone, but I did finish Season 19 of Heartland. There was one surprise that definitely stood out. I didn’t expect to see guns drawn, for starters. Second, I definitely didn’t suspect that Nathan would propose to Amy. Whoa! Talk about an awesome cliffhanger! I cried when he asked her to move to a new ranch with him, but I was completely thrown off when he asked her to marry him. I smiled after that and thought that I definitely can’t wait for season twenty to get here.
How on Earth can sweet Heartland even compare to the evil seeded drama and death that is everywhere in Yellowstone? It’s simple: drama.
I don’t buy into the fake drama in Yellowstone. Yes, there are men out there like John Dutton who try to buy the world that they want with what they’ve worked hard for, but they are far and few between in my opinion. Abuse of power and privilege are definitely points that Taylor Sheridan has made definitely through Yellowstone. However, I don’t believe that this level of violence is completely necessary. I’m not shocked that the occasional weapon is drawn due to cattle thieves, but violence does not have to be portrayed all of the time. Evil can be drawn out by prayer and a belief in God protecting. Yes, it was necessary for Lou to protect a herd from wolves, but when approached by the wolf, she shot a gun into the air which scared off the wolf. I was wondering how Heartland would sweetly approach what could have been a deadly manner, but instead they handled it in a very classy way which was to have Lou shoot a gun into the air in order to scare off the potential attacker. In comparison, Beth on Yellowstone decided to shoot a windchime just because it was too noisy. Really? Was that completely necessary? No, it wasn’t needed at all. It’s simply theatrics. I will continue to watch Yellowstone because now I am completely hooked. However, I cringe at the violence and the unnecessary drama is a runner up.
However, there is one part of Yellowstone that I can definitely say is fairly accurate. The four sixes ranch in Texas is an example of life in the Midwest. We are no nonsense hard workers for the most part. The beauty of the land speaks for itself. How many people in the Midwest haven’t made love underneath the stars like Jimmy and his newfound love? I haven’t completely finished watching Yellowstone and I am really pulling for this little duo that have obviously fallen madly in love. I hope that they are permanently together when Yellowstone comes to a close in just a season or so for me. However, since it is Yellowstone and Taylor Sheridan seems to be obsessed with drama, unfortunately evil will win. It was definitely nice to see Texas involved in this little blood bath because that is what life is like for me. From time to time, I see farmers and ranchers working on their land with cattle. The land looks similar to Texas and actually a little like Montana minus the mountains. I don’t envy the person stuck in a concrete jungle surrounded by bumper to bumper traffic. I can either go 45 minutes in one direction and be surrounded by concrete, crime, and commerce; in the other direction about 45 minutes to an hour I am surrounded by peaceful tranquility, grain elevators, cattle, sunflowers, and home. I choose the good versus the evil. Yes, money is essential to live, but I am not going to live close to the mess of society once I retire. I am going home to peaceful sunsets and gorgeous stars at night. Again, good wins. I’m not saying that cities are evil, but they are definitely too busy for me. I prefer simple life away from the lights and action.
Beth is definitely like Lou because both are fighters. However, Beth goes about everything the wrong way completely. Hats off to both characters for adopting children that would have been lost in the system. Kelly Reilly, the actress that portrays Beth Dutton, recently announced that she will be having a baby. I wish her the best of luck because Motherhood is the best thing that I have ever done in my entire life. I enjoyed teaching. I enjoy writing. I enjoy my hobbies, but being a Mom has been the biggest joy and blessing ever. I absolutely love being a Mom.
Even though the person that said they liked Yellowstone is completely out of my life, this evil show remains. Heartland will always personify goodness. It is based upon a book series by Lauren Brooke which was apparently the pseudonym for Linda Chapman and Beth Chambers. After I finish Yellowstone and while I wait for what some might think is the last season of Heartland, I am going to start reading the actual Heartland books. I have heard that they don’t have a lot of beefy content, but that’s alright, in my opinion, as a former teacher. If they have high interest and a low readability level, then they would be perfect for kids to read.
In the end, I will throw my virtual high heels at the one who suggested Yellowstone if they are disrespectful to me. You are definitely not the one for me because I deserve a lot more in life. I am not completely concerned about myself and you are more concerned with your lifestyle, reputation, and deep down your bottom line financially. I am through with ruining what might be one of your favorite shows into the ground. I definitely enjoy the simple life and I have fought hard to keep the simplicity that I love. You might express that you are a kid from the country and enjoy simplicity, but you are living between two worlds. Pick one. I will promise you that I will be respectful going forward. If you are respectful, then I will be respectful. If you are respectful, I will forever hold onto my secrets. That’s that.
May good always win over evil. Also, don’t ask a woman again to wear high heels ever because they kill our backs and it isn’t our fault if women are made small sometimes. We might be small, but we are mighty. Some of us are like dynamite because we are in small packages that blow up if we are tampered with. No more jokes. No more disrespect. If you respect me, then I will respect you. Thank you for helping to promote a positive venture like women’s health. Without your exposure, I would still be stuck in the doldrums of my mind like I was three short weeks ago. Instead, I can now happily live my life for the next thirty or more years. I want to thank you deeply for that one. However, if you ever try to trick me or just play a little joke on me, I will blow up as quick as dynamite. If I am respected, then I show respect in return.
I am definitely glad that I found a positive wellness path that I am silently enjoying it. Authentically speaking, I am tired of writing about Yellowstone. It’s a waste of my time. There are so many other inspiring things to write about and consider in this world. I have other writing that I want to complete that hopefully will shed a positive light on this world for some. Even if my other writing projects touch at least one soul it was worth it. I am enjoying this new path and I don’t intend to leave it anytime soon. There is a positive glow inside of me for the first time in ages. I feel alive again after thirty years. I definitely want to thank you for that.
There is actually one last thing that I will say about Heartland now that I have thought about it. G.G. or Grandpa Jack is definitely like most men in the Midwest. His character might be a little more talkative than most men that I know, but he definitely reminds me of both my Grandpa and my Dad as well. May both rest in peace. I fell in love with Heartland instantly because it made me think of my late grandparents. They broke horses for a little bit when my Dad was very young. I’m not sure what happened to that situation, but I do know that my Dad was bit on the horse as a child. I personally can’t see my Grandpa breaking horses because he was a gently giant. I just love that I can watch heartfelt television with my children that isn’t drama ridden with fake drama. Again, good versus evil always wins in the end.
